Comparison of Geoff’s Noggin!

On the left is Geoff 7 weeks post stroke on 13th May 2019, on the right is Geoff on 8th May 2020. Not even the same person is it. We just can't believe how old he looks on the left and how much weight he had lost. He looks so poorly even though he was 'clinically' stable.

What is a Craniectomy? -

This is a surgical procedure where a piece of the skull is removed. This operation happens to allow the surgeon to access the brain in order to try to stop a bleed and/or relieve the pressure on the brain. The bone fragment is not immediately put back into place.

To replace the missing part of the skull at a later date Geoff underwent a procedure called Cranioplasty.

What is a Cranioplasty?

Cranioplasty is a neurosurgical procedure designed to repair or reshape the skull. Geoff’s missing part of his skull was replaced with a titanium plate.
